I just listened to a very interesting paper by Ammina Kothari, a graduate student at University of Indiana in Bloomington. The paper is titled "A Study of The New York Times Coverage of Darfur: July 2003-2006." What made it interesting is that Kothari didn't look at audience frames; she instead looked at how these frames are produced by first finding the frames and then interviewing reporters of NY Times. Innovative approach!
I am presenting a paper on "Gender, news and politics" in a panel titled "(Inter)national Media, Women and Politics" at 1:30 p.m. today.
