Women as Intercultural Leaders: Imagination, Innovation, Integrity

I joined members of Butler University's Collaborative for Inquiry into Race, Gender, Sexuality and Class for a roundtable presentation at a conference at Saint Mary's College this past week. The presentation outlined the many strategies and activities of women on the Butler Campus over the last few years: the work of the Women's Caucus, the creation of the Presidential Gender Equity Commission, the cooptation of the core curriculum through the work of the Collaborative, and the change from a minor to a major in Gender, Women and Sexuality Studies.

Colleagues Vivian Deno, Terri Carney and Ann Savage at the roundtable

Some other highlights of the conference included:
* The keynote address by Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum, president of Spelman College
* A presentation on the work of Casas Maternas in Nicaragua and sweatshop workers in the Honduras
* A presentation on the work of Women in Black and Transnational Feminism

Kitty Madden of CRANES Peace Group talks about her work in Nicaragua
